Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:  Per the attached budget any additional cleaning kits purchased over the approved award amount will be absorbed within the District Attorney's department budget.  There will be no change to the departments net county cost.

Background: Justice Assistance Grants are a funding source that blends the previous Edward Byrne formula and Local Law Enforecment Block Grant Programs (LLEBG) to provide agencies with the flexibility to prioritze and place justice funds where they are needed most.  Funds must be used to supplement existing funds and cannot replace, or supplant, non-federal funds appropriated for the same purpose.

Reason for Recommendation: The Law & Justice Functional Group determined that the best use of awarded funds would be for the District Attorney's Office to obtain the necessary equipment to advance the department toward the goal of a paperless system.

Action to be taken following Board approval:  Grant award to be submitted to the U.S Department of Justice.
