DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On March 23, 2022, the Purchasing Agent executed Agreement for Services 6202 with Aramark Uniform & Career Apparel, LLC for a one-year term so that the Procurement & Contracts Division could conduct a competitive Request for Proposals (RFP) for future County-wide laundry and linen services and garment, linen, and accessory rental services.
On March 31, 2023, the Purchasing Agent executed Amendment I to Agreement for Services 6202 which extended the contract term for an additional two months and increased the compensation amount to $81,635 to allow for additional time to finish the competitive RFP process and prepare an award recommendation for the Board's consideration. Due to the unsuccessful results of the competitive RFP process the Procurement & Contracts Division is now evaluating other cooperative contracts that are available to the County to determine the best cooperative contract that will meet the County's current and future requirements. This Second Amendment will allow Procurement & Contracts to finalize the evaluation, establish a transition plan to migrate from our current service provider to the new vendor, and prepare a contract for the Board's consideration.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could reject this amendment request and Agreement for Services 6202 would expire on May 31, 2023, and leave many County departments without laundry and linen rental and cleaning services until a new contract is presented to the Board for consideration.
