Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: No Change. Funds were budgeted for FY 2006/07. The remainder was included in the FY 2007/08 County Budget Request.

Background: On August 15, 2006, the Board executed Agreement #078-S0711 with Sierra Recovery Center for the provision of substance abuse testing and treatment services for eligible CalWORKs clients during the term July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007.

Reason for Recommendation:The provision of substance abuse testing and other related services continues to prove to be a successful tool to improve the lives of families served by the Department of Human Services (DHS). Agreement for Services #078-S0711 with Sierra Recovery Center expires on June 30, 2007. Processing of an Amendment to extend the term and increase the compensation was initially delayed due to a multi-department effort to develop a standardized rate structure for similar services intended to take effect in FY 2007/08. A request for the necessary contract amendment was submitted to Procurement and Contracts in mid-April.
