Facilities and Fleet Services Department recommending the following pertaining to the El Dorado Trail Improvement Project - Forni Road to Missouri Flat Road:
(1) Approve the Plans and Contract Documents upon review and approval of County Counsel;
(2) Authorize Chairman to sign said Plans; and
(3) Authorize advertisement for construction bids upon review and approval of County Counsel.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve.
FUNDING:State Proposition 40, Transportation Enhancement (TE) grant, State Bicycle Transportation Authority (BTA) grant.

There is no Fiscal Impact associated with this agenda Item as the Board will not be obligating the County with the current requested action. The obligation will come with the subsequent action of awarding the bid. There is no net County Cost, however the County could lose the $1,099,000 Transportation Enhancement grant that has been allocated and authorized for this project if a construction contract is not awarded by November 2008.
Background:
The El Dorado County Facilities and Fleet Services Department is proposing the development of a 2.75-mile eastern extension of the El Dorado Trail within the former Southern Pacific Railroad right-of-way, from 300 Forni Road (at the entrance to the El Dorado County Jail) to Missouri Flat Road. The project lies within the Sacramento Placerville Transportation Corridor (SPTC) and includes construction of a Class I paved trail as well as improvements to the Weber Creek Trestle Bridge.
