Community Development Services, Department of Transportation, recommending the Board consider the following:
1) Approve and authorize the Chair to sign the Notice of Acceptance with Doug Veerkamp General Engineering, Inc., for the 2017 Bucks Bar Road Sinkhole Project, Contract PW 17-31156, CIP 78716, P&C 444-C1799; and
2) Approve and authorize the Clerk of the Board to release the Payment and Performance Bonds to the Surety upon notification from the Department of Transportation, after the one-year guarantee period.
FUNDING: Local discretionary funding initially (100%), with Department of Transportation staff working with the Federal Highway Administration and the California Office of Emergency Services to obtain reimbursement. (Local/State/Federal)

Community Development Services (CDS), Department of Transportation (Transportation), recommending the Board consider the following:
1) Approve and authorize the Chair to sign the Notice of Acceptance (NOA) with Doug Veerkamp General Engineering, Inc., for the 2017 Bucks Bar Road Sinkhole Project (Project), Contract PW 17-31156, CIP 78716, P&C 444-C1799; and
2) Approve and authorize the Clerk of the Board to release the Payment and Performance Bonds to the Surety upon notification from the Department of Transportation, after the one-year guarantee period.
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The delegation of authority to award and approve the Construction Contract for the Project was approved by the Board on March 21, 2017 (Item 33). The Chief Admnistrative Officer, in conjuction with the Transportation Director, awarded the bid and Construction Contract to Doug Veerkamp General Engineering, Inc. (Contractor). The repaired roadway was opened to motorists on December 22, 2017.
Transportation has inspected the work and deems the work to be substantially complete. Recordation of the NOA will start legal time frames for guarantees, a lien period, and return of retention monies. Recorda...
