Health and Human Services Agency recommending the Board:
1) Approve and authorize the Chair to sign funding Agreement 117-F1810 with Barton Healthcare System, to support the operation of the Public Health Hospital Preparedness Program with an effective date commencing upon execution through June 30, 2018 with a maximum funding amount of $9,765.81; and
2) Authorize the Director of Health and Human Services, or designee, to execute further documents relating to funding Agreement 117-F1810, including amendments which do not increase the maximum dollar amount or term of the Agreement, and contingent upon approval by County Counsel and Risk Management.

DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION:
Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) recommending the Board approve and authorize funding to support the operation of the Emergency Preparedness & Response Hospital Preparedness Program for the term commencing upon execution through June 30, 2018 in the amount of $9,765.81.
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND:
The California Department of Public Health serves as the fiscal intermediary for state and federal funding of the Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) and Public Health Hospital Preparedness (PHEP) programs. This funding is used to ensure delivery of coordinated and effective response to victims of terrorism, natural disasters, and other public health emergencies. A portion of the funding has been identified in the HPP work plan under “Scope of Work HPP Capabilities: Foundation for Healthcare and Medical Readiness, Healthcare and Medical Response, Continuity of Healthcare Delivery, and Medical Surge” for the purchase, storage and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment to ensure operational readiness in the event of an emergency as defined by the HPP grant.
