Community Development Services, Department of Transportation, recommending the Board consider the following pertaining to the re-bid of the Silva Valley Parkway Class 1 and 2 Bike Lanes (Harvard to Green Valley) Project, Contract PW 17-31203, CIP 72310, Contract 2749:
1) Approve and adopt the Plans and Contract Documents and authorize the Chair to sign the Plans; and
2) Authorize advertisement for construction bids.
FUNDING: Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Program (CMAQ) (95% - Federal), Urban State Transportation Block Grant Program (Urban STBG) (4% - Federal), Road Fund (1% - Local).

DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
Community Development Services, Department of Transportation (Transportation), recommending the Board consider the following pertaining to the re-bid of the Silva Valley Parkway Class 1 and 2 Bike Lanes (Harvard to Green Valley) Project (Project), PW 17-31203, CIP 72310, Contract 2749:
1) Approve and adopt the Plans and Contract Documents and authorize the Chair to sign the Plans; and
2) Authorize advertisement for construction bids (the total estimated cost for the construction phase of the Project is $2,121,284).
The Project is budgeted in Transportation’s 2017 CIP, which was adopted by the Board on June 27, 2017 (Item 25), with a direct construction budget of $1,514,000. The 2017 CIP construction budget was based on cost estimates derived from 2017 first quarter average cost data. Since that time, the cost estimate was updated to reflect current construction cost data and the upcoming 2018 CIP will include these updated costs for a total direct construction cost of $2,121,284.
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The purpose of this Project is to add Class 1 and 2 Bike Lanes on Silva Valley Parkway between Harvard Road and Green Valley Road for safer bike and pedestrian access.
