DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

The results of the votes cast at the Statewide Direct Primary Election held on June 7, 2022, were certified by the Registrar of Voters on June 24, 2022.  The Election Department recommends the Board declare the results of the official canvass. Attachment B is the election results that show for each contest:

- the times cast;

- the undervotes (when a voter cast a ballot but chose not to vote in that particular contest);

- the overvotes (when the contest is limited to a specified number of votes, but they vote for more than the specified number, that contest is not counted but the rest of the ballot is counted); and

- the results by candidate or yes/no option.

Elections Code Section 15400 states that the governing Board shall declare the results of each election held under its jurisdiction.
