Reason for Recommendation:
The California Department of Aging (CDA) requires periodic submittal of an Area Plan for Older Adult Services that must be approved by the Board of Supervisors. The Area Plan has historically been developed in four year increments, but CDA has established a one-time-only three-year Area Plan cycle for the period of 2009-2012. This Plan provides guidance for provision of services to El Dorado County Planning and Service Area (PSA) 29 older adults and identifies eight goals and related objectives that are designed to improve service delivery and outcomes during the three-year Area Plan period. Area Plan goals and objectives are defined in the attached Executive Summary. Annual reports required by CDA track progress towards meeting identified goals, and annual updates to the Area Plan allow for revision of objectives as necessary to reflect changing needs within the community. The El Dorado County Commission on Aging reviewed the Area Plan on April 16, 2009, and no changes were requested.
Action to be taken following Board approval:
Board Clerk to provide Human Services at Briw Road, with two copies of the Transmittal Letter signed by the Chairman for submittal of the 2009-2012 El Dorado County Area Plan to the California Department of Aging.
