The CAO, DA, and Sheriff’s Office are recommending the Board approve and accept the award and authorize the Sheriff to sign the Grant Award document for Justice Assistance Grant Program funds.
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Sheriff’s Office and DA recently requested Board authorization to submit an application for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program Fiscal Year 2016 funds. The grant has been awarded in the amount of $18,435. The Sheriff’s Office will receive $9,217.50 to partially fund sending seven Detectives to the California Narcotic Officers Association (CNOA) Annual Training Institute. The remaining $5,888.50 needed will be funded by California Multiple-Jurisdictional Methamphetamine Enforcement (CalMMET) special revenue funds.
The DA’s Office will receive $9,217.50 to partially fund sending four DA Investigators to the California District Attorney Investigators Association (CDAIA) Annual Training Conference, and to purchase laptops. The remaining funds needed will be funded by General Funds already budgeted in the DA’s operational budget.
