DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On May 9, 2021, the District Attorney’s Office received notification from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) that they intend to fund the department for participation in the Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program. Funds have been made available pursuant to the California Code of Regulations Title 13, Division 2, Chapter 13, Section 1890.13. This will be the District Attorney’s first award under this grant Program. The purpose of the Program is to aid the department in reducing and mitigating the impacts of impaired driving within the community.

The primary objectives of this Program are to provide public outreach and education on the impacts of driving under the influence, increasing DUI/DUID enforcement efforts through the means of conducting thorough investigations, participating in DUI checkpoints, and administering training to local officers on DUI/DUIS related to investigative criteria.

The Program will fund (1.0) FTE District Attorney Investigator dedicated to meeting the goals as described in the Request for Application. This Program does not include a cash match requirement.
