DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
Community Development Services, Department of Transportation (Transportation), recommending the Board consider the following pertaining to the 2018 Marshall Road Pavement Rehabilitation Project (Project), Contract PW 18-31212, Project No 49307, Contract 2932:
1) Approve and adopt Contract Documents; and
2) Authorize advertisement for construction bids (the total estimated cost for the construction phase of the Project is $800,000).

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The purpose of this Project is to provide roadway failure repair to designated pavement sections on Marshall Road from Highway 49 to Black Oak Mine Road in preparation for a surface treatment in the 2018 construction season.

The Project will be bid as a Base Bid. Base Bid work to be performed includes paving approximately 139,930 square feet of asphalt.

Contract working hours will between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:00 pm on Mondays through Fridays, unless otherwise authorized. Reversing controls will be used during the Project.

There are no utility relocations associated with this Project. Due to no federal funding on this Project, CEQA Notice of Exemption was filed on April 2, 2018.

ALTERNATIVES
1) Do not approve the Contract Documents. Transportation will make any changes requested by the Board and return at a later date.
2) Do not authorize advertisement for construction bids. Transportation will make any changes requested by the Board and return at a later date.
3) Cancel the Project. Follow Board's direction for use of Local Discretionary Funds.
