DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On January 30, 2024, the Board of Supervisor adopted the 2024 Strategic Plan. This plan was developed over the course of more than a year of interviews and workshops with department heads and the Board, facilitated by an outside consultant as well as feedback from an open-ended public opinion survey. The Board provided direction to return with an annual update to the Strategic Plan prior to the end of the first quarter of the calendar year. Per the County Charter, the Board shall, at least annually and prior to the end of the first quarter of the calendar year, review the adopted goals and modify them, as necessary.

Over the course of 2024, departments identified 257 out of a total of approximately 2100 agenda items as being relevant to at least one of the County's Strategic Plan Priorities. Below is a breakdown of the distribution of the items related to each focus area:

Safe and Healthy Communities - 109 items or 42%
Public Infrastructure - 66 items or 26%
Workforce Excellence - 40 items or 16%
Thriving Economy - 26 items or 10%
Strategic Innovation - 16 items or 6%
