Chief Administrative Office, Facilities Division, recommending the Board consider the following pertaining to the demolition of the building located at 300 Fair Lane, Placerville, as related to the Senate Bill 81 Local Youthful Offender Rehabilitative Financing Program New Placerville Juvenile Hall Facility Project:
1) Adopt the bids, specifications and contract documents for the demolition;
2) Approve and authorize the Chair to sign the construction bid documents; and
3) Authorize advertisements for construction bid No. 21-968-011.
FUNDING: Senate Bill 81 grant funding.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The location of 300 Fair Lane, Placerville, was formerly utilized by the Sheriff’s Office for administrative functions. With the facility well beyond its useful life, and the Sheriff’s Office having moved into the new Public Safety Facility in September 2019, the vacant structure can be demolished. Hazardous material abatement throughout the building has recently been completed and the next phase involves a complete tear-down.
Future use of this location is related to the Senate Bill 81 Local Youthful Offender Rehabilitative Financing Program New Placerville Juvenile Hall Facility Project. Work has been ongoing concerning that endeavor and site planning activities concerning that project will be occurring concurrently.
The Division requests the Board adopt the bid, specifications, and contract documents for the facility demolition; approve and authorize the Chair to sign the construction bid documents; and authorize advertisement for construction bid No. 21-968-011.
Upon approval by the Board, the Facilities Division and Procurement and Contracts will finalize the bid schedule, advertise for bids, and return to the Board with recommendations for award at the conclusion of the bid process. It is anticipated demolition activities will begin during the first quarter of Calendar Year 2021.
