Receive report from the committee and consider the information presented when developing the goals, objectives and tasks for the Economic Development component of the Countywide Strategic Plan.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The County General Plan (adopted in 2004 and ratified by the voters in 2005) includes a comprehensive Economic Development Element (EDE) that can be used to strengthen community development activities, enhance economic growth, and reinforce the planning process as a positive part of economic development. The EDE serves as a “blueprint” for economic development in El Dorado County and includes a number of guidelines, goals, objectives, and implementation measures.

In 2014, the Community & Economic Development Advisory Committee (CEDAC) established a Strategic Plan ad hoc group to develop a draft Implementation Plan, or “Architecture,” to provide recommendations regarding effective organizational and strategic approaches to implement the Economic Development blueprint for El Dorado County.

A draft “Economic Development Architecture” document was prepared and discussed at the November 20, 2014, CEDAC meeting (Agenda Item 6). It was determined at that meeting that an open workshop to gather information would be beneficial to further develop the draft document. An open workshop was held on December 15, 2014 where continued discussion occurred. The document title was revised from "Architecture" to "Framework" and various other revisions to the document language were considered.
