DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Department of Transportation, Fleet Services Unit (Transportation) is requesting the addition of one mid-size SUV to Fiscal Year 2020-21 Fixed Asset List in the amount of $32,000. Fleet has identified savings which will allow for the acquisition without increasing the budgeted appropriations for Transportation's fixed assets for Fiscal Year 2020-21. The addition of the mid-size SUV to the Fiscal Year 2020-21 Fixed Asset List is for an emergency accident replacement. The mid-size SUV will be utilized by the District Attorneys Office and the Department is currently short a vehicle due to a mid-sized SUV being totaled and sent to surplus.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board may elect to not approve the additional fixed asset as proposed, however this would leave the department with fewer vehicles than required to perform necessary services.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funding is available within the Department of Transportation Maintenance and Operations Division - Fleet Internal Service Fund budget. This internal service fund charges costs for services to other County departments. The additional fixed asset will be purchased from savings already identified in the approved Fiscal Year 2020-21 budget. Risk Management has accepted $7,564.76 from the County's insurer (the amount paid after the deductible), which will be refunded back to the Fleet Internal Service Fund. There is no budget amendment required to add the fixed asset.
