Title: Department of Transportation recommending the Board adopt a Resolution 044-2012 sanctioning the road closure of Merrychase Drive from Country Club Drive to the southern entrance of Blue Oak Elementary School. Road barricades will be in effect at the intersections of Merrychase Drive and Country Club Drive; Merrychase Drive and Casa Largo Way; and Merrychase Drive at the southern entrance to Blue Oak Elementary School from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012, for the Blue Oak Elementary PTA's Fourth Annual "Bulldog Biathlon," subject to the conditions set forth in Resolution No. 110-79 dated May 1, 1979, and the Application for Road Closure.

There is no fiscal impact and no change to Net County Cost associated with this item.
 
Background:
The Blue Oak Elementary "Bulldog Biathlon" is a running/cycling event for children from Kindergarten through 5th grade and is sponsored by the Blue Oak Elementary Parent-Teacher's Association.   Sponsors anticipate approximately 100 children for the event.  The requested road closures are for the safety of the participants, children, volunteers, and spectators along the course.
 
Reason for Recommendation:
The Department of Transportation is recommending the Board approve the proposed Resolution for the safety and success of this event.  No involved agencies objected to this closure.
 
Action to be taken following Board approval:
1)  The Clerk of the Board to obtain the Chair's signature on the Resolution.
2)  The Clerk of the Board to send an executed copy of the Resolution to the  
      Department of Transportation.
