Funding for this portion of the acquisition process will be provided by Highway Safety Improvement Program funds and Regional Surface Transportation Program Exchange funds.

Background
The Cold Springs Road Realignment Project (Project) is currently in the design phase to widen two high-risk segments of Cold Springs Road just north and south of Mount Shasta Lane and from Skyview Lane to Fox Print Court in Placerville. A 400-foot stretch of road between the two segments of Cold Springs Road will not be modified as part of this Project. Segment 1 extends approximately 1,100 feet from Skyview Lane north to Fox Print Court. Segment 2 extends approximately 1,130 feet and is located 600 feet north of the intersection of Cold Springs Road and Mt. Shasta Lane.

The Project is subject to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). CEQA covers both segments and was approved by the Board on November 13, 2012. The NEPA for Segment 1 is currently underway. The NEPA...
