Funding is provided by County Service Area No. 10, Household Hazardous Waste Parcel Assessments. There is no change to Net County Cost.

Background
At the request of Environmental Management, in early 2010 the Procurement and Contracts Division requested competitive proposals for household hazardous waste transport and disposal services. On May 11, 2010 the Board awarded the household hazardous waste transport and disposal services RFP 10-961-079 to 21st Century Environmental Management of California, a wholly owned subsidiary of Phillips Services Company and authorized a three (3) year contract in the amount of $240,000 (Legistar File # 10-0412). In awarding the contract to 21st Century the Board found that it is more economical and feasible to obtain an outside contractor to provide the equipment and services necessary to provide household hazardous waste transport and disposal services rather than procure the needed equipment, hire additional staff, and obtain the certification and licensing required to transport and dispose of hazardous material.
