Background/Reason for Recommendation
The County has, for several years, contracted with Renne, Sloan, Holtzman & Sakai to provide professional legal services. The representation and advice provided by this law firm relating to employment and labor matters have proven professional and thorough. On March 19, 2013, the Board of Supervisors approved Agreement No. 435-S1311 with Renne, Sloan, Holtzman & Sakai, an independent outside consultant, specializing in employment and labor matters, to provide the County with legal advice and representation involving the California Public Employment Relations Board, on an "as needed" basis. The Board subsequently approved Amendment I on August 27, 2013 increasing the compensation from $25,000.00 to $100,000.00 for the period of April 1, 2013 through March 31, 2014. Rates ranging from $135.00 per hour to $325.00 per hour did not increase in Amendment I and will remain the same in Amendment II. This amount is included in the Human Resources budget. Amendment II is for a two (2) year term extension only.
Action(s) to be taken following Board approval
Upon Board approval and receipt of vendor executed original Agreements, Procurement and Contracts will obtain signatures from the Board and retain one fully executed original for distribution and administration.
