The proposed action is a budgeted activity in the 2014 Capital Improvement Program, Bucks Bar Road at the North Fork Cosumnes River - Bridge Replacement Project CIP No. 77116. There is no change to Net County Cost.

Background
The Bucks Bar Road at the North Fork Cosumnes River - Bridge Replacement Project (Project) is located on Bucks Bar Road approximately 1.2 miles north of Mount Aukum Road. Bucks Bar Road is a two-lane rural major collector connecting Pleasant Valley Road with Mount Aukum Road near the community of Somerset. The average daily traffic on the bridge is approximately 4,200 vehicles per day, as counted in May 2007.

Built in 1946, the existing bridge consists of a reinforced concrete deck slab supported by a reinforced concrete arch. The current width only accommodates a single lane so southbound vehicles are required to yield to northbound travelers until the bridge is clear.
