Title
Health and Human Services Agency, Social Services Division, recommending the Board consider the following:
1) Approve and authorize the Chair to sign Amendment 1 to Agreement for Services 555-S1311 with Tahoe Turning Point, Inc. for the provision of therapeutic counseling and substance abuse services on an “as requested” basis for the term May 28, 2013 through May 27, 2016, increasing the maximum contractual obligation by $175,000 from $325,000 to $500,000; and
2) Authorize the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute further documents relating to Agreement for Services 555-S1311, including amendments that do not increase the maximum dollar amount or term of the Agreement and contingent upon approval by County Counsel and Risk Management.
FUNDING: Funding Federal and State Funds (85%) and Realignment (15%).

Background
The Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) Child Protective Services (CPS) program staff strive to ensure safe, permanent, and nurturing families for children by protecting children from abuse and neglect, while attempting to preserve the family unit. CPS accomplishes this goal by evaluating the services necessary to support families. Further, Welfare and Institutions Code 16501 et seq., encourages HHSA’s CPS staff to provide counseling and substance abuse services that promote reunification of children and families in the CPS program.
