DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION:
The Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) Child Protective Services (CPS) staff refers clients to therapeutic counseling services in an effort to promote family reunification and family preservation. As a result of increased need and utilization of therapeutic counseling services, it is necessary to increase the maximum not-to-exceed compensation by $137,804 for a maximum contractual obligation of $200,000.

Failure to approve Amendment 1 to Agreement for Services 045-S1510 will result in an increased difficulty in meeting community needs and will limit HHSA’s ability to refer clients to court-mandated services.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND:
HHSA CPS program staff strive to ensure safe, permanent, and nurturing families for children by protecting children from abuse and neglect, while attempting to preserve the family unit. CPS accomplishes this goal by evaluating the services necessary to support families.
