Community Development Agency, Transportation Division, recommending the Board adopt and authorize the Chair to sign Resolution 160-2015 sanctioning the closure of several streets in the El Dorado Hills area surrounding Oak Ridge High School, on Friday, October 2, 2015, between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., for the “Oak Ridge High School Homecoming Parade," subject to conditions set forth in Resolution No. 110-79 and in the “Application for Road Closure.”

DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION

The Community Development Agency, Transportation Division is recommending Board approval of the proposed Resolution for the safety of event attendees and the general public, and success of this community event. No involved agencies objected to these closures.

 

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

The Oak Ridge High School Homecoming Parade is an annual event sponsored by the Oak Ridge High School Associated Student Body. The parade has been held annually for the past 15 years and participants include the Oak Ridge students, staff, sports teams, extracurricular programs, community affiliates, local businesses and groups such as the EDH Fire Department, California Highway Patrol and County Sheriff's Department.

 

The parade starts, and ends, at the high school, proceeds up Clermont Way to Brisbane Circle, around the circle, returning to the High School along Clermont Way. The parade route is shown on Attachment B.  Traffic on the intersecting roadways will be held as the parade passes, but will be allowed to proceed once the parade has passed.  Requested road closures are for the safety of the parade participants, children, volunteers and spectators along the course.

1. The Clerk of the Board to obtain the Chair’s signature on the Resolution.

2. The Clerk will send an executed copy of the Resolution to the Transportation Division.
