Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
There is an annual cost of $7,500 to maintain the 1.5 mile long Sawmill 1A Bike Path Project (Bike Path). El Dorado County (County) receives Measure S funding in the amount of $5,000 per mile per year for the maintenance of constructed bike paths within the County. The $7,500 annual maintenance cost will be from Measure S funding in the same amount. The maintenance responsibilities under this Agreement will take effect upon completion of the Bike Path. There is no cost to the County General Fund since all maintenance costs will be paid for with Measure S funds.

The Measure S funds are administered by a Community Facilities District Joint Powers Authority that consists of the County, the City of South Lake Tahoe, and the Tahoe Paradise Association. Voters approved Measure S on September 19, 2000 by 69% and $6.5 million in Bond funds are now available to be utilized to maintain new bike trails, acquire, construct, and equip athletic fields, upgrade the Paradise Park facilities, and construct an ice rink. Upon completion of the Bike Path, this bicycle facility will also be eligible for Measure S funding.
