Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: No Change. Funds were budgeted for FY 2005/06 and FY 2006/07. The remainder was included in the FY 2007/08 County Budget Request.

Background: On June 27, 2006, the Board executed Agreement #053-S0711 with Progress House, Inc. for the provision of substance abuse testing and treatment services for eligible CalWORKs clients.

Reason for Recommendation: The provision of substance abuse testing and other related services continues to prove to be a successful tool to improve the lives of families served by the Department of Human Services (DHS). Agreement for Services #053-S0711 with Progress House, Inc. expires on June 30, 2007. Processing of an Amendment to extend the term and increase the compensation was initially delayed due to a multi-department effort to develop a standardized rate structure for similar services intended to take effect in FY 2007/08. A request for the necessary contract amendment was submitted to Procurement and Contracts in mid-April.
