Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: None. All but one of these items are already budgeted for in the Sheriff's FY07/08 budget. Asset seizure Special Revene Funds will be utilized to offset the cost of the unbudgeted telephone system.
Background: The El Dorado County Board of Supervisors will not be adopting the FY2007/2008 budget until September of 2007 and departments are unable to purchase fixed asset until the final adoption of the budget. The Sheriff is requesting approval for the early acquisition of numerous fixed assets due to grant deadlines and operational needs.
Reason for Recommendation:
On 3/13/2007, your Board approved agenda item #07-380 appropriating numerous expenditures for the CAL-MMET grant in the Sheriff's budget. Fixed asset items funded by this grant were not able to be purchased during FY06/07 and have been rebudgeted in the Sheriff's FY07/08 budget. The grant ending deadline of 12/31/07 for the receipt and liquidation of all grant related expenditures does not give the Sheriff adaquate time to purchase the approved equipment if we have to delay until the formal adoption of the budget in September.
