Title: Human Services Department, Community Services Division, recommending Resolution authorizing the Chairman to sign Amendment 2 to Agreement 05-45756 with the California Department of Public Health increasing amount by $42,520 to $1,861,480 for the term October 1, 2005 through September 30, 2008 for the operation of the Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) during Fiscal Year 2007/2008; and recommending the Director of said Department be authorized to execute further documents relating to said contract, including amendments thereto, contingent upon approval by County Counsel and Risk Management, that do not affect the maximum dollar amount or the term, and sign subsequent required fiscal and programmatic reports. Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: No change.
The maximum amount payable by the State to El Dorado County under this Agreement, as amended is $1,861,480 for the three-year term 10/1/05 through 9/30/08. The allocation increase was anticipated and funds are budgeted for FY 2007/08.

Reason for Recommendation:
The Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants & Children (WIC) is federally funded and regulated to provide supplemental food, referral services, and nutrition education for eligible women, infants, and children under the age of five. The authorized El Dorado/Alpine County caseload is currently 2,550 participants per month, and the Program is serving at capacity and above as permitted by the funding source.
