Human Services Department recommending ratification of submittal of an application to the El Dorado Community Foundation for a grant in an amount not to exceed $9,380 for the period July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009 to acquire furniture and equipment for the Department’s second Senior Day Care Center site scheduled to open in El Dorado Hills in July 2008 and; if awarded, Director of said Department be authorized to execute said grant agreement contingent upon approval by County Counsel and Risk Management.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve.

No direct County Match is required. Since funding will not be released to successful applicants until May or June, 2008 for a grant period of July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009, Revenues and Appropriations for the proposed acquisitions will be included in the FY 2008/09 County Budget Request to be in place should the Application be funded as anticipated.
Reason for Recommendation:
Human Services is seeking grant funding to purchase five tables, thirty chairs, a washer/dryer set and physical therapy equipment to help furnish and equip the new Senior Day Care Center site in El Dorado Hills, which is currently scheduled to open in July 2008.
Human Services became aware of the current El Dorado Community Foundation funding round subsequent to the Agenda deadline required for Board of Supervisors approval of the Application prior to the March 24, 2008 Application submittal deadline.
