Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: The Engineer's cost estimate for this project is approximately $2.1 million. There is no Net County Cost associated with this item.


Background:
On April 29, 2008, your Board approved the Apalachee 3B Erosion Control Project’s (Project) Plans and Specifications and authorized the Department to advertise for construction bids, with the bid opening scheduled for May 23,2008.

Reason for Recommendation:
The Department opened bids on Friday, May 23, 2008. Upon the conclusion of the five day protest period, the Department will inform the Board via hardcopy letter to identify the lowest responsive bidder for the Project.

The Phase 3B Project area is located in eastern El Dorado County, in the Tahoe Basin, east of U.S. Highway 50 and west of Pioneer Trail. The Phase 3B Project area is generally bounded by Pioneer Trail to the southeast, Trout Creek to the east, and the Upper Truckee River and the rescinded Caltrans highway corridor to the west. The Phase 3B Project area includes Tahoe Paradise Additions Nos. 2, 4, and 5.
