Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: Funding is included within FY 2007-08 adopted budget for Alcohol/Drug Treatment services. Compensation for Prop 36 services under agreement #622-PHD0607 (Progress House) shall be for $6,912; compensation for alcohol and drug treatment services under agreement #592-PHD0407 (Progress House) and 589-PHD0407 (EDCA Lifeskills) shall be $73,294 and $17,397 respectively.

Background: The County annually contracts with local non-profit agencies for the provision of alcohol and drug treatment services. Depending on the number and origin of funding streams that make the provision of these services possible, the County may contract with a single vendor multiple times for similar services. The El Dorado County Proposition 36 Program, which allows qualifying non-violent drug offenders the option of alcohol/drug treatment instead of incarceration, is one such program in particular. It was implemented in July 2001 and continues to be overseen by the County Public Health Department. Additionally, the County receives funding from the State's Drug Medi-Cal Program. Subsequent treatment services are subcontracted out to various local non-profit agencies, including Progress House, Inc and EDCA Lifeskills.
