On Tuesday June 28, 2016, the Trailhead fire ignited on the border of El Dorado County and Placer County near the Middle Fork of the American River and West of the community of Volcanoville. County fire and public safety personnel quickly provided response, which was later supplemented through state involvement. In response to the fire, numerous firefighters, Sheriff’s Deputies and personnel, animal services officers, Public Health Emergency Preparedness staff, and other County staff and volunteers assisted the community. These dedicated staff members helped ensure that residents and animals remained safe, property damage was reduced, and the threat of the Trailhead Fire was mitigated.
Additionally Mr. Tim Sauer and Mrs. Danielle Slater of Saureel Vineyards, who opened their private ranch to large animals impacted by the fire, deserve appreciation for their commendable actions in h...
