DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
Sheriff’s Office recommends the approval and signing of the Option Letter to Lease Agreement 134-L1211 to continue renting this space for its China Garden Sheriff Communications Unit and other operations.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Sheriff’s Office has leased this 4,000 square foot warehouse and 1.57 acre parcel since 2002 for the purpose of storage and operations space. The lease will expire on September 19, 2016.

On February 23, 2016 the Board approved Amendment I to add an additional 9,500 square feet of storage space to Section 1 - Premises, to increase the monthly base rent, and to add options for lease renewal.

This Option Letter #1 is to extend the Lease Agreement for an additional three (3) year period commencing on September 20, 2016 and ending on September 19, 2019.

ALTERNATIVES
Failure to approve and sign this Option Letter #1 would result in the loss of leased space to the Sheriff’s Office.

OTHER DEPARTMENT / AGENCY INVOLVEMENT
County Counsel and Risk approval of contract.

CAO RECOMMENDATION
Approve as recommended.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no Net County Cost associated with this item. Partial funding is provide by the Boating and Waterways Grant, and the remainder is included in the Fiscal Year 2016-17 Budget, and will be included in future yea...
