Body
DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
Information Technologies recommending the Board approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent to sign a Blanket Purchase Order to Virtru Corporation in an amount not to exceed $2,100 for Virtru for Google software licenses that will provide enhanced email encryption capabilities to the department for a term of one year, automatically renewing for successive one (1) year terms thereafter, unless the agreement is canceled by either party.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Virtru is Google’s recommended encryption provider and the County currently uses Virtru software to provide encryption capabilities for the County’s Google Mail accounts required for HIPAA and National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) compliance. The requested licenses provide an enhanced level of email encryption management to the existing G Suite applications that will allow authorized Google Application administrators in Information Technologies to search and decrypt emails stored in the County’s Google Vault.

Pursuant to Section 4.5 of Board of Supervisors Policy C-17, the automatically renewing (perpetual) term of this Agreement must be initially approved by the Board and reviewed annually thereafter to confirm ongoing use of the licenses and services.
