DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION:
Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) recommending the Board approve and authorize Amendment 1 to Agreement for Services 104-S1511 to extend the term and increase the maximum contractual obligation for EDCA Lifeskills, Inc. (EDCA) to continue to provide senior peer counseling for those eligible individuals, thus ensuring HHSA meets the requirements of the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Plan update, which is anticipated to be submitted to the Board of Supervisors for approval this spring.

Additionally, once the MHSA Plan is adopted by the Board of Supervisors, the County implements or maintains the projects identified in the MHSA Plan. Due to the specialized nature of the services required under the Senior Peer Counseling project, the provision of these services are more economically and feasibly performed by the EDCA than through the County Behavioral Health Division.

MHSA requires that stakeholders be provided with the opportunity to provide input into the MHSA Plan development on topics such as community needs and funding allocations.
