Health Services Department recommending Chairman be authorized to sign Amendment I to Agreement 501-PHD0106 with The SPHERE Institute increasing the not-to-exceed amount by $5,000, to a total of $115,000, and extending the term through December 31, 2009 to provide continued project evaluation and review of the El Dorado County Safety Net Technology Project associated with the Access El Dorado (ACCEL) Initiative.

Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: None. The agreement for project evaluation of the El Dorado County Safety Net Technology Project / Access El Dorado (ACCEL) is funded by the AHRQ grant.
Background: In 2006, Marshall Medical Center and El Dorado County collaborated on and were awarded the AHRQ Technology Implementation Grant. A portion of this grant was allocated for project evaluation and review by The SPHERE Institute.
At this time, AHRQ has awarded an extension to the term of the Technology Project agreement through September 29, 2009. Amendment I to The SPHERE Institute agreement extends the project evaluation term through December 31, 2009, to allow sufficient time to complete the final evaluation report, and adds an additional $5,000 funding. The additional funding for this amendment is a reallocation of previously unspent funds from the AHRQ award, resulting in no cost to the County.
Reason for Recommendation: Approval of this Amendment I to Agreement 501-PHD0106 will allow completion of project evaluation through the term of the grant award.
