Title: Health Services Department, Mental Health Division, recommending Chairman be authorized to sign Amendment I to Agreement 357-S0811 with Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians increasing compensation by $25,000 to $77,500 and extending the term an additional six months through June 30, 2009 to provide clinical case management services and data collection for a needs analysis on an “as requested” basis for said Department, contingent upon approval by County Counsel and Risk Management. Fiscal Impact: The cost of this amendment is $25,000 for a total contract amount of $77,500. Funding for this contract is included in the Department’s budget and in the approved MHSA Community Services and Supports (CSS) Plan. There is no Change to Net County Cost.

Background: One of the programs identified in the County’s Community Services and Supports (CSS) plan under MHSA provides outreach and engagement for unserved and underserved target populations, such as Native Americans. More specifically, the plan calls for the Mental Health Division of the Health Services Department (MHD) to pursue collaboration with the local Native American community for case management, and data collection to develop a better understanding of the specific mental health challenges affecting Native Americans.
