Background: El Dorado County has observed the national Emergency Medical Services (EMS) week annually with a proclamation from the Board of Supervisors and activities to increase public awareness about the County's commitment to offering quality emergency medical services.
This year, May 17-23 has been proclaimed the national Emergency Medical Services week. The El Dorado County Health Services Department, EMS Agency, is requesting the Board of Supervisors proclaim that week as "Emergency Medical Services Week" in El Dorado County. Activities will include raising the public's awareness of, and providing education on, the high level of emergency medical services provided throughout the County, as well as the coordination, implementation, and development of EMS systems in California.
Reason for Recommendation: To increase public awareness of the County's commitment to quality emergency medical services offered in our community.
Action to be taken following Chairman approval:
1. Chairman to sign two (2) proclamations regarding Emergency Medical Services Week.
2. Board Clerk's Office to return one proclamation to Department.
3. Department to distribute accordingly.
