Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
The Transportation Department (Department) included $254,630 in its Fiscal Year 2009-2010 budget and anticipates budgeting the remaining amount in subsequent fiscal years. Funding for the traffic control and enforcement services has been included in the individual budgets for Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects and will be from Traffic Impact Mitigation (TIM) Fees and State and Federal CIP project funding. There is no Net County Cost.

Reason for Recommendation:
The Department is requesting approval of the subject Agreement with the State of California - Department of California Highway Patrol (CHP) for a three-year term and a not-to-exceed compensation amount of $500,000 for traffic control and enforcement services, based on proper advance notification, during construction phases of various CIP construction projects within and in the vicinity of El Dorado County. The major multi-year projects for which the Department anticipates requesting services under the proposed Agreement include the ongoing U.S. 50 HOV Lanes, Phase 1 - El Dorado Hills to Bass Lake Grade Project and the upcoming Missouri Flat Road Overcrossing Phase 1B Project and U.S. 50 HOV Lanes, Phase 2 ...
