Body

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

On June 6, 2017 (Item 32), the Board approved Agreement 498-S1711 with Nichols Consulting Engineers, CHTD. (NCE) to provide on-call environmental support services for projects in the Tahoe Basin.  Department of Transportation (Transportation) is requesting to amend NCE’s contract to include geotechnical, geological, hydraulic, and hydrologic services in order to provide a secondary option for those services for projects in the Tahoe Basin.  There is no change to the term, rates or the not-to-exceed amount of the Agreement.

Transportation maintains a County-wide on-call geotechnical support services contract, but there are occasions where consultants based in Sacramento have difficulty performing work in the Tahoe Basin.  Board approval of the recommended action will give Transportation another consultant to provide the aforementioned services should Transportation's County-wide consultant be unavailable.

The El Dorado County Employees Association, Local 1, has been informed of this proposed Amendment.

ALTERNATIVES

The Board could choose to not approve the Amendment.  However, Transportation may have a difficult time completing projects without having more options for providing these services.
