Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
The Probation Department's proposed budget for 2009/10 contains funds for this agreement, therefore there is no change in the Net County Cost.
 
Background:
Probation Department has American Red Cross certified instructors that will provide in-house training and classes for Deputy Probation Officers in the field and in the Juvenile Detention Facilities.
 
Reason for Recommendation:
Pursuant to Procurement Policy, Section 4.5, Contract Term, "Departments must obtain authorization from the Board of Supervisors, initially, and on an annual basis, to utilize any contract that does not have a stated contract term."
 
Classes taught by Red Cross certified Deputy Probation Officers and attended by Deputy Probation Officers contribute to the Standard and Training for Corrections (STC) annual training requirements for sworn Probation staff.
