DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Cooperative Law Enforcement Agreement between the El Dorado County Sheriff and the United States Forest Service (USFS) outlines the general parameters of the working relationship between the two agencies for the enforcement of state and local laws. Amendments are typically made in the form of Exhibits A, for patrol services, and B, for controlled substance operations, on an annual basis depending on the amount of funding available from the USFS.

On November 7, 2017, the Board approved a new Cooperative Law Enforcement Agreement, 18-LE-11051360-002, between the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, the United States Department of Agriculture, US Forest Service Eldorado National Forest, and the US Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit for the enforcement of State and local laws related to the administration and regulation of National Forest Service (NFS) lands, for the term October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2022.
