DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On April 8, 2003, the Board created an Approval Authority to distribute Homeland Security Grant funds to local eligible entities. This Approval Authority has approved the reimbursement of $32,000 to the City of Placerville from the Fiscal Year 2018 Homeland Security for the update to purchase Getac Tablets to be utilized by Placerville Police Department. The Approval Authority also approved the reimbursement of $4,500 to the EID for the purchase of satellite phones for use when working in remote areas of the County. Other projects approved by the Approval Authority needed to be modified and other projects were delayed therefore we have requested and have been granted an extension of the performance period of the 2018 Homeland Grant. Homeland Security Grants normally have a three year performance period. Our 2018 Homeland Grant extension request was approved in March of 2021 and will extend the grant performance period to May of 2022( the initial performance period would have ended in May of 2021).
