There is no County share of cost or match requirement associated with the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America Bi-Annual Grant. The “Annual Budget” on page 2 of the application reflects the total operating budget of $410,580 for the Senior Day Care Center (SDC) including the Alzheimer’s Day Care Resource Center (ADCRC). The “Annual Program Budget” on page 4 of the application illustrates a portion of the SDC budget that serves ADCRC eligible clients and equates to approximately 70% of the total SDC budget. If the grant is awarded, a Budget Transfer Request will be submitted to incorporate the new revenues and corresponding appropriations.

Reason for Recommendation:
The Department of Human Services (DHS) received notice of this funding opportunity from the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America on December 22, 2009. Development of the application was expedited to ensure submittal by the February 1, 2010 deadline. If awarded, the funds will be used to partially offset the loss of State Alzheimer’s Day Care Resource Center funding, which occurred effective September 30, 2009. This funding will assist the Senior Day Care Center in continuing to provide comprehensive support services to adults who are functionally or cognitively impaired due to Alzheimer’s and related disorders and their caregivers.
