Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: Some funding for these services is included in the Human Resources Department; however, Human Resources is reimbursed by departments for which the services are provided.

Reason for Recommendation: The Human Resources Department has contracted with Valentina Reiner for the provision of investigative services and other specialized personnel services on an "as-requested" basis. Ms. Reiner specializes in the investigation of allegations under the County's Policy Prohibiting Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation. Due to a greater than anticipated need for these services in the current year, it is necessary to increase compensation; however, since the contract will expire on June 30, 2010, the department is taking this opportunity to extend the agreement for an additional year. The estimated costs for the three-year period total $130,000. The Procurement and Contracts Division and County Counsel concur with the department's request to amend this agreement.


Action to be taken following Board approval: Human Reosurces will forward the executed Agreement to Purchasing and Auditor-Controller's offices. Purchasing will encumber the funds as necessary...
