Reason for Recommendation:
The California Department of Aging requires an annual update to the 2009-2012 Area Plan for Senior Services approved by the Board on May 12, 2009. The 2010-11 Area Plan Update reviews FY 2009-10 accomplishments and provides guidance for continued provision of senior services in El Dorado County, with an ongoing focus on targeting resources to the priorities of awareness of services, elder abuse prevention, aging in place and health and wellness. The attached Summary provides a description of significant accomplishments and impediments to progress that occurred during FY 2009-10. The Area Plan Update document includes information related to the goals and objectives where activity has occurred during the current year.

Accomplishments include the 20th Anniversary celebration of the El Dorado County Senior Day Care Center , the receipt of American Recovery & Reinvestment Act funds for the continuation and enhancement of Senior Nutrition and Information & Assistance services, a partnership with the AARP Foundation for DHS to act as a host agency for seniors participating in the Senior Community Services Employment Program (SCSEP) and the development of the Commission on Aging’s website to provide information to seniors regarding programs and services available in El Dorado County.
