On August 10, 2010, Julie Griffith-Flatter and Lynn Campbell, representing the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, provided a presentation to the members of the public and the Board of Supervisors on the Sierra Nevada Forest and Community Initiative.
On June 3, 2010, the Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC) Board unanimously adopted the Sierra Nevada Forest and Community Initiative (SNFCI). The purpose of the Initiative is to promote forest health, create jobs, increase woody biomass uses such as energy production, and reduce fire risk in Sierra forests. The Initiative will focus primarily on issues relating to public lands in the Sierra Nevada Region, while recognizing the importance of private lands in achieving the overall objectives.
