Health Services Department recommending the Board adopt a Proclamation acknowledging May 15, 2011 through May 21, 2011 as "Emergency Medical Services Week" in the County of El Dorado.

Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:   There is no Net County Cost associated with this proclamation.
 
Background:   Annually, the County of El Dorado has observed the national Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week with a proclamation from the Board of Supervisors and activities to increase public awareness about the County's commitment to offering quality emergency medical services.
 
This year, May 15 through May 21 has been proclaimed the national Emergency Medical Services Week.  The Health Services Department's EMS Agency, is requesting the Board of Supervisors to proclaim that week as "Emergency Medical Services Week" in the County.  The intent is to raise the public's awareness of, and provide education on, the high quality emergency medical services provided throughout the County, in coordination with EMS systems in California.
 
Reason for Recommendation:   To increase public awareness of the County's commitment to quality emergency medical services offered in our community.
Action to be taken following Board approval:
- Chair to sign two (2) original proclamations regarding Emergency Medical Services Week.
- Board Clerk's Office to return one (1) proclamation to Department.
- Department to distribute documents as appropriate.
