Sheriff's Office recommending the Board approve and authorize the Chair to sign Agreement No. 024-S1211 with El Dorado Union High School District, Adult Education Program, in an amount not to exceed $120,000 during the term of July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012 to provide voluntary academic and vocational education to the inmates.

Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: Funding for this agreement has been included in the Sheriff's Office Fiscal Year 2011-12 budget. As a result, there is no change to Net County Cost.
Background: In accordance with Title 15, Section 1061 of the California Administrative Code, the Sheriff's Office contracts with the El Dorado Union High School District to provide personnel and services which are necessary to support a jail inmate education program. Specifically, this program is to provide for the voluntary academic and/or vocational education of both sentenced and non-sentenced inmates. On May 4, 2010, your Board approved a contract between the Sheriff's Office and the El Dorado Union High School District to provide these services through June 30, 2011.
Reason for Recommendation: Approval of this agreement will allow El Dorado Union High School District during Fiscal Year 2011-12 to continue providing these mandated services on behalf of the Sheriff's Office.
Action to be taken following Board approval: Upon obtain the signature of the Board Chair, the Clerk of the Board will return the agreement to the Sheriff's Office for processing.
