Background
Pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 48600 of the California Oil Recycling Enhancement Act, $11 million are provided in payments to local governments each year for implementation of local used oil and filter collection programs. The program provides for a variety of eligible costs, which include, but are not limited to: establishing, maintaining and/or enhancing used oil and used oil filter collection/recycling programs; developing educational materials informing the public about used oil and used oil filter collection and recycling; purchasing or renting storage facilities dedicated to oil-related activities and supplies; specific training; and developing and purchasing Used Oil Program materials.
